DAVAO CITY, the Philippines, July 13 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and dozens wounded in a road accident in a southern Philippine town on Friday, police and disaster authorities said.
Three of the victims were killed at the scene after a ten-wheeler truck loaded with about 45 people and kitchen utensils overturned along a portion of the national road in Malungon township, in Mindanao's Sarangani province around 11 a.m. local time, said Arnel Pinque, disaster officer of Malungon town.
The victims were on their way to a wedding in Maasim town, also in Sarangani when the truck's brakes burst, causing it to careen and turn on its side, pinning many passengers, Pinque said.
At least 35 people were rushed to different hospitals and four of them succumbed to injuries, a police report said.
Officials said an investigation into the mishap was now underway.
