TRIPOLI, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Monday said that it has concluded a training course for 40 police trainers on infantry patrols, funded by the U.S. and Dutch governments.
"As part of the police and security project funded by the U.S. and Dutch governments and implemented by the United Nations Development Program and the UNSMIL, 40 trainers graduated today in the field of infantry patrols," the UN mission said.
"The trainers will train 1,500 policemen to serve the community," it added.
Since the fall of former leader Gaddafi's regime in 2011, the Libyan authorities have been struggling to form a security force capable of countering the armed militias in the war-torn country.
