TOKYO, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rose Wednesday morning as buying here was prompted by the Dow Jones Industrial Average's rise to a five-month high overnight.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 87.74 points, or 0.39 percent, from Tuesday to 22,750.48.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 5.29 points, or 0.30 percent, at 1,751.34.
Marine transportation, information and communication, and machinery-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
