TIANJIN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- The SuperStar Virgo, the latest flagship liner for Star Cruises, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genting Hong Kong, has started its maiden voyage, from Tianjin Port in north China.
The vessel is 268 meters long, 32 meters wide, with a gross tonnage of 75,000 tonnes. It has 935 cabins, which can accommodate a total of nearly 2,500 passengers.
It also has over 10 restaurants and bars as well as a gym, duty-free shop, mini golf and other recreational facilities.
The cruise ship will stop in the ports of Kagoshima, Fukuoka, Beppu and Nagasaki after departing Tianjin.
Cruise tourism is booming in China. An estimated 29,000 inbound and outbound tourists are expected in Tianjin Port during the week-long National Day holiday, according to Yang Liang, who works with the port's international cruise home-port office.
